Shrimp meal
is a by-product of the processing industry. Shrimps are either frozen or
processed after drying or drying. On the market today, there are several types
of shrimp meal depending on the type of raw material used. It may contain
shrimps or parts of shrimp such as heads or shells. Shrimp meal can also be
made from fresh shrimp. In shrimp meal, a portion of crude protein is the form
of chitin.
For animals, such as pigs should not see the
complete shell shrimp with fish, because the high chitin
will affect the digestion of pigs. Only substituting
not more than 50% fish meal should stimulate growth.
For chicken: Shrimp meal can replace fish meal,
soybean meal in chicken diet. Replacement rates range from 25 to 65% for fish
meal, and from 50% ddeens for soy flour. Shrimp flour is also used as pigment
supplements in chickens. For laying hens, replacement rates of 5% to 25% did
not affect performance and quality of eggs
For seafood: Shrimp meal is very good for fish due
to high crude protein and high digestibility (84.29%) it stimulates growth of
fish.
